Becherovka, the thirteenth spring

Becherovka is undoubtedly the most popular Czech liqueur. For two centuries, its popularity has been due not only to its savoury taste, but also to a good marketing stressing its healing power. By the way, Becherovka was “invented” by the local pharmacist Josef Becher and the English doctor Frobrig who accompanied, at the beginning of the 19th century, the Earl Plettenberg during his stay in the spa. At that time, it was quite usual that the local families offered accommodation to spa visitors.
