Kynžvart and the Metternichs

The necessity to have a representative princely castle lead the Chancellor to the decision to charge the Vienna architect Pietro Nobile with reconstructing an older building owned by his family in the Classicist style. It took thirteen years. When in 1833 the three-wing castle was finally ready to living in, Metternich received there the most eminent personalities of Europe – emperors and kings, diplomats, artists and scientists…
